ABLE, Inc. has been providing residential care to people with developmental disabilities within Houston County for over 40 years.

ABC Works is a licensed Day Training and Habilitation (DT&H) program designed for people with significant barriers to employment, yet with a desire to work. The program offers a variety of work opportunities, skills development, and volunteer activities, both in community job settings and in structured environments at our facilities in La Crescent and Caledonia.

Coulee Firearm Training (CFT) provides Wisconsin- and Minnesota-compliant concealed carry training designed to help individuals carry responsibly, confidently, and legally. Their courses focus on firearm safety, legal requirements, and practical knowledge for both new and experienced gun owners.

CFT offers Minnesota concealed carry training for residents ages 18 and older, as well as options for private classes for individuals, groups, businesses, or organizations. For added convenience, Coulee Firearm Training can travel to your location to host on-site training.

With flexible scheduling and a commitment to clear, thorough instruction, CFT is an excellent resource for those seeking concealed carry certification or group training opportunities.

The La Crosse County Convention and Visitors Bureau builds awareness of the Upper Mississippi Valley region as a global tourism destination. Increasing revenue and stimulating economic development, enhancing visitor spending and overnight stays, will be realized by promoting leisure travel, conventions, sports, and events while highlighting our region’s natural beauty and showcasing the talents of our residents for all communities.

The Houston County Historical Society, an all-volunteer organization, provides many services to county residents and visitors. Located by the Houston County Fairgrounds in Caledonia, Minnesota, the Society maintains exhibits in the Main Museum, the Sheldon Presbyterian Church, Flatten-Swenson Pioneer Home, the Mayville Town Hall, the Daley School, and the Ag Machinery Building, that are open during the Society’s business hours and by appointment.

The Knights of Columbus is the largest Catholic fraternal service organization, standing for the four principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism.

In the spirit of service, not self, the mission The American Legion and Auxiliary is to support of the American Legion of those who serve by to honor the sacrifice enhancing the lives of our veterans, military,
and their families, both at home and abroad.

For God and Country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security.

We are an umbrella organization for La Crescent-area non-profits. The La Crescent Area Healthy Community Partnership was organized to address areas impacting the health, wellness and livability of the greater La Crescent area.

Have a splash on the two 33-foot slides! Special events, water exercise, open swim, and lap swimming make this the place to be all summer long, no matter your ability or your age. Children will enjoy the zero-depth entry, kiddie slide, spraying ring, and a signature apple tree water umbrella. Older kids and adults have a 1-meter diving board, a 3-meter diving board, and a 14-foot climbing wall to enjoy.

Tie up those skates and hit the ice at La Crescent’s indoor ice arena. Lancer Youth Hockey is the primary occupant and the work they do keeps our arena a ‘shining star’. The ice is also open for figure skating, open skating, and broom ball. When the ice is gone, concerts, gun shows, and the La Crescent High School graduation also utilize the facility. With so many events held here the entire community gets to enjoy our beautiful arena.

The La Crescent Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for area residents. From beautification and preservation projects, educational and recreational initiatives, to quality of life issues, our efforts are focused on enhancing the lives of those who are fortunate to call the La Crescent area home.

Outdoor Market Tuesdays throughout the Summer 4 – 7 p.m. Located in parking lot adjacent to Veteran’s Park and La Crescent Event Center. Our Motto is- Buy Local – Buy Fresh, we have a nice variety of Vendors who strive to bring you a wonderful selection of Market goods, whether grown, or produced by hand. Stop and see what we offer!

Our museum spaces are usually open on posted days and hours between Memorial Day and Labor Day and also during Applefest. We are staffed entirely by volunteers. Please call or email to request a group tour or if you need individualized assistance with local or family research.

Our offices are in the History Center, a two-story yellow frame house once owned by the Smith Grubber Company and rented by its employees.

The La Crescent Lions Club is a part of Lions Clubs International, a network of volunteers who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world.

Board Meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month at Prince of Peace Church, 6:30 pm

The mission of La Crescent Montessori & STEM school is to prepare outstanding Montessori environments with integrated STEM education and rigorous academics, which foster independence, self-assurance, collaboration, and connections to the global community and provide experiences that promote curiosity, inquiry and engagement. LMSS’s approach is guided by the principles of AMS Montessori education.

More than just books! The library also offers e-books, audio books, DVDs, puzzles, Internet databases, story times, free WIFI and many community programs. Children love the Summer Reading Program. Check it out!

La Crescent United Methodist Church has been a welcoming congregation in La Crescent for over 150 years. Our church has a rich history in the town of La Crescent, MN. The La Crescent UMC is the church that can respond well in crisis and serves the needs of the less fortunate. We show “radical hospitality” to visitors, members, and the community.

Our local missions are here for the sole purpose of helping our community. We take pride in La Crescent, MN and we want everyone here to be safe, full, and warm. Our main local missions focus on the children and youth of La Crescent, but we also have funds in place to help others.

La Crescent-Hokah School District is an innovative educational system designed to prepare all learners to thrive in an ever-changing global society.

Neighbors in Action provides assistance to older and disabled adults Houston County Area. We help with tasks that are difficult to manage to help people stay living in their own homes longer.

Neighbors in Action provides help in two ways:

• Volunteers are matched to provide basic home tasks, occasional companionship and transportation

• Care Partner Service – a paid staff person provides more in depth care to help provide peace of mind to both the person served and their family.

Service Options include:

• Outdoor chores: snow shoveling, lawn mowing, leaf raking

• Light housekeeping

• Transportation for appointments and errands

• Companionship, friendly visiting and respite for caregivers

• Social and educational opportunities

• Home Safety Assessments for fall prevention

Led by the Prince of Peace we are a shalom home – and we are a house still under construction; standing in need of everyone’s creative hand. We are a cauldron of imagination, where the fires of justice burn. A place that today moves people out the door with the shout, “Go in peace. Serve the Lord” convinced that God needs us more in the world than inside our walls. This is the calling and the joy of this community of faith. Old people, young people, all of us together.

The La Crescent Rotary Club was chartered in 1982 and the first year membership was 22 persons with Loren Mollett serving as president. Since that time the club has grown to 30 members and has taken on many projects of a local and international nature.
