    Have a splash on the two 33-foot slides! Special events, water exercise, open swim, and lap swimming make this the place to be all summer long, no matter your ability or your age. Children will enjoy the zero-depth entry, kiddie slide, spraying ring, and a signature apple tree water umbrella. Older kids and adults have a 1-meter diving board, a 3-meter diving board, and a 14-foot climbing wall to enjoy.

    Tie up those skates and hit the ice at La Crescent’s indoor ice arena. Lancer Youth Hockey is the primary occupant and the work they do keeps our arena a ‘shining star’. The ice is also open for figure skating, open skating, and broom ball. When the ice is gone, concerts, gun shows, and the La Crescent High School graduation also utilize the facility. With so many events held here the entire community gets to enjoy our beautiful arena.

    Our museum spaces are usually open on posted days and hours between Memorial Day and Labor Day and also during Applefest. We are staffed entirely by volunteers. Please call or email to request a group tour or if you need individualized assistance with local or family research.

    Our offices are in the History Center, a two-story yellow frame house once owned by the Smith Grubber Company and rented by its employees.

    Neighbors in Action provides assistance to older and disabled adults Houston County Area. We help with tasks that are difficult to manage to help people stay living in their own homes longer.

    Neighbors in Action provides help in two ways:

    • Volunteers are matched to provide basic home tasks, occasional companionship and transportation

    • Care Partner Service – a paid staff person provides more in depth care to help provide peace of mind to both the person served and their family.

    Service Options include:

    • Outdoor chores: snow shoveling, lawn mowing, leaf raking

    • Light housekeeping

    • Transportation for appointments and errands

    • Companionship, friendly visiting and respite for caregivers

    • Social and educational opportunities

    • Home Safety Assessments for fall prevention
